Discover the Wine Route, Colmar, and Fairytale Villages without the stress of renting a car.

Strasbourg is the perfect “base camp.” Many of my guests worry about navigating narrow French roads in a rental car. My advice? Take the train. The SNCF (French Railways) network here is fantastic.

Colmar: The Little Venice Just a 30-minute train ride away, Colmar looks like the set of Beauty and the Beast. It’s smaller, colorful, and incredibly charming. Walk through the “Quartier de la Poissonnerie” and visit the Unterlinden Museum.

Obernai: The Gateway to the Wine Route A quick 35-minute hop on a local train takes you to Obernai. It’s a quintessential Alsatian town. From here, you can actually walk into the vineyards. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and the air smells like grapes in the fall.

Sélestat & High Koenigsbourg Take the train to Sélestat, and then jump on the Shuttle Bus (Navette) that takes you straight up the mountain to the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. It’s a massive fortress with views that will take your breath away.
