Capture the magic of the Petite France and beyond with these secret photo spots just steps from our historic loft.
Hey there, fellow travelers! If you’re anything like me, you don’t just want to see a city—you want to capture that perfect shot that makes your friends back home say “Wow, where is that?” Living in the heart of Strasbourg, I’ve seen it all, and let me tell you: this city is a cheat code for beautiful photos.
The Classics (With a Twist) Most people head straight to the Place de la Cathédrale. It’s stunning, obviously. But for the best shot? Head to the Rue Mercière at sunset. The way the pink sandstone glows against the blue hour sky is pure magic. Check the official Cathedral site for lighting schedules.
The “Petite France” Magic Just a 5-minute stroll from our loft, you’ll find the Maison des Tanneurs. It’s the postcard of Alsace. Local Tip: Don’t just stand on the bridge with everyone else. Walk down to the water level near the locks (écluses) to get the reflection of the half-timbered houses in the River Ill.
Hidden Gems Have you heard of the Barrage Vauban? Climb to the panoramic terrace (it’s free!) for a bird’s-eye view of the Covered Bridges. For something more modern, the Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMCS) has a terrace with a killer view of the old town’s rooftops.
Why stay with us? You’re so close to the action that you can head out at 7:00 AM to get the streets to yourself before the crowds arrive. Happy snapping!
